Here in Cobden, IL, we are getting ready for all sorts of festivities! This weekend there is a car show, filling the center of town with all sorts of cool vintage cars. Always fun to check those out and imagine myself in one. I would love an old convertible - one that had fins...and it would need to be an aqua color!!!
And the whole Village of Cobden is having a yard sale. Now, that can be dangerous if you are a Class 5 Hoarder, but if you really need something, it would be loads of fun just to go from place to place - there's a map available up at the Village Hall. We're participating, too. And whatever does not sell is NOT coming back in the house!
The bead shop will open up at 8 am when the yard sale starts, we'll have some in-store specials. All Chinese lampwork beads in the shop are 75% off. They desperately want you to take them home and string them. There are lots of interesting shapes and colors. We have some seasonal beads in a small bowl that are 75 cents each....Halloween, Christmas and others. You'll get a buy one get one 50% off on all gemstones. Then on our Findings, buy 2 and get one half off. All ready made jewelry is 10% off. These specials are just for Saturday.
On to some creative endeavors....
Skull Fairies have landed. These are Southpass Beads exclusives! All colors....blue, orange, green, black, purple, pink....not only that, but several are being auctioned on the Pazza Bella Cowgurl Bling Facebook page - pictures below. Earrings start at $12 with bid increments of 50 cents. The necklace starts at $30, the bracelet at $20. Give 'em a good home! The auction has started and closes promptly at 12 pm on October 8.
To catch anyone up on the sock knitting class, I have finished one sock and despite good intentions have not started sock #2. Next week is looking good for that. It may take some doing but I'm pretty sure I will remember what I learned. My sister is a great teacher! I can now decipher the verbage of knitting pattern instructions somewhat. Here's the finished sock #1.
My sister brought with her on her visit the cutest book - The Knitted Odd-bod Bunch: 35 Unique and Quirky Knitted Creatures by Donna Wilson. I'm going to try to make one of the cats in the book - Ginge Marmelade, a cute orange stripe.
I'm also sewing again. Watch on my Etsy shop in the near future for my sewing projects. Calico Country in Carbondale, IL, is a fantastic place. I took a class there this past Tuesday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, you can reserve a space and sew most of the day until 3 pm. No charge for being there, just have to reserve a spot and bring your machine. There is so much inspiration there that I think I can easily get myself into trouble financially. I just have to pace myself....or I have to keep telling myself that at least!!
The weather is rather raw here today, damp and cold and windy. Just pouring myself another cup of coffee to chase off the chill, and off to finish up yet another project.
