Get Sock Smart - Beginning Sock Knitting Class
Greetings Everyone! I have a class coming up in September - a little way off but since everyone is busy, I thought I would mention it! It will be on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9am-Noon, break for lunch, then continuing 1-6pm. Students should bring their lunch - we’ll provide coffee, tea & dessert!! Cost is only $35. Instructor is my sister, Saundra Keiffer, from St. Joseph, MO. - she is active in spinning and knitting groups in Missouri.
Supplies needed
Size 6 double point needles(bamboo or wood are best), 320 yds. worsted weight yarn, tape measure, scissors, tapestry or darning needle, open ring markers and pencil & paper for taking notes.
The details of the class
Join us to learn sock basics. We will use worsted weight yarn to move quickly from one step to another. We will do a traditional cuff down sock and learn to turn a heel and shape toes. The techniques you learn can easily be adapted to any yarn weight and needle size. For this class you need to purchase Ann Budd’s book Getting Started Knitting Socks. I have the books available in my shop, Southpass Beads in Cobden, IL, for purchase if you want to buy it here. I recommend buying it in advance and becoming familiar with the book and do the measurements for your correct size - contact me if questions!
If anyone is interested, please contact me to register or if any questions! If anyone is coming from far away, there are tons of Bed & Breakfast places around the Cobden/Carbondale area and I could help you find a place!!
